As the largest and most clinically capable critical access hospital in Kansas, Newman is a not-for-profit 25-bed facility with seven beds for acute inpatient medical rehab, emergency room, express care and clinics.
Murray approached hospital administration in the early 2000s to consider switching from a traditional design-bid-build approach to a team approach. The traditional method was creating budget overruns around 7.5%. By using the team approach with Murray, budget overruns were dramatically reduced to just over 1%. Project evaluations revealed the marginal overruns were driven by changes in the design or project scope as directed by administration or the board. |
