Murray Company is seeking a Senior Preconstruction Manager to join our growing team. About the Role:
As a Senior Preconstruction Manager, you’ll lead the development and setup of multi-million-dollar projects. This role is critical to both strategic planning and execution, with a strong focus on leadership, communication, scheduling, estimating, and operations planning. You will collaborate closely with our Business Development and Marketing teams to support the execution of Murray’s sales and marketing strategies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead preconstruction efforts on complex projects

  • Support project pursuits and early client engagement
  • Drive continuous improvement and innovation in preconstruction processes

What We’re Looking For
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) or equivalent experience (10+ years preferred)
  • At least 8 years of construction experience in estimating, project management, or business development; healthcare construction experience is a plus
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, and Procore
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to build strong relationships with clients and trade partners
  • Willingness to travel overnight to project locations
  • Valid driver’s license

Superintendent Healthcare Construction (Des Moines, IA)

Murray Company is looking for a commercial construction superintendent to operate across Iowa and lead the development of rural hospitals and healthcare centers built for the future. Specializing in the healthcare industry, we manage new constructions, additions, and renovations from concept to completion and are ready to meet everyone’s needs. Our construction superintendents are responsible for the overall planning, management, and execution of work for assigned construction projects. They provide overall administrative and technical directions on projects and uphold company and project policies, ensure jobsite safety, maintain customer interface and ensure our projects are constructed in accordance with design, budget, and schedule. On average, they manage two to five multi-million-dollar construction projects per year.

Skills and Qualifications
  • Minimum eight years’ industry experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, and Procore
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Exceptional client interaction skills and developing trade partner relationships
  • The ability to travel to project locations primarily located in Iowa; must be able to travel up to 6-8 hours from home
  • OSHA 10 hour
  • Valid driver’s license

Estimator Healthcare Construction (Des Moines, IA)

Murray Company is seeking an estimator to join our growing pre-contruction department. Specializing in healthcare construction, we manage new builds, additions, and renovations from concept to completion—creating environments that support access to high-quality care. About the Role
As an estimator, you will be responsible for executing takeoffs, estimating, and assembly of deliverables. The individual will provide advocacy, leadership, value, and responsiveness in collaboration with internal and external teams. With confidence and professionalism, the estimator assembles budgets and proposals, and with an understanding of client expectations. Our estimators provide creative solutions and smart choices, along the pathway to a remarkable experience. This individual will provide support to pre-construction managers in larger project teams.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver projects by utilizing different contract types, requirements, and delivery methods
  • Prepare bid scopes, obtain bids from trade partners and material vendors, and prepare subcontracts and purchase orders
  • Maintain files including projects, correspondence, drawings, and presentation proposals.
  • Create a variety of documents, reports, and records including agenda, minutes, executive summaries, and advertisement for bids, bid tabulation reports, bid forms, and proposals
  • Schedule internal and external meetings such as post-bids, kick-offs, orientations, and design/budget reviews
  • Drive continuous improvement and innovation in pre-construction processes

What We’re Looking For
  • Associate’s (A.A.) degree or equivalent from a 2-year college or technical school and 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, and Procore
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to build strong relationships with clients and trade partners
  • Valid driver’s license
